Tactile toys

The senses of seeing, tasting, hearing, smelling and feeling encourage the curiosity to explore the world around them. For some children, sometimes one of those senses are developed worse or delayed. Helping a special child to recognize different materials can produce a lot of fun. We are talking also about dexterity.

Tactile sensory stimulation is about the stimulation and sensation of touch (feeling) and different materials, or the stimulation of the sense of touch.

Tactile toys (naturally an intriguing form of exciting physical material) invites children  to touch it, to manipulate and explore by stretching, pushing, pressing and pulling. All of those actions stimulate the senses in the muscles.

Sometimes the sense of touch warns too fast for danger and that we call tactile hypersensitivity.  These children are sensitive to touch: their sensory stimuli react very quickly. These children find uncomfortable being touched, sitting on your lap and cuddling. In addition, they are often very fussy with food, their clothes, which they experienced soon as "itchy."

They are also critical of the toys with which they play. Playing with water, sand, clay and paint is usually not a favorite. They find it soon dirty.

Sometimes the sense of touch is not sufficiently strong. This is also called tactile hyposensitivity. These children can hardly notice that they are touched, or they touch something. The sensory stimuli give them too little information. Because of this "control", the child likes less their own body, making it awkward and soon, give up. Such children play just that happily with 'dirty' materials such as sand, clay and paint.

Tactile toy is precisely about sensitivity of the senses.
